Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. In 1981 began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She was on the panel during the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
